Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has said that his team were "not at their best" against Aston Villa in their 6-1 defeat on Saturday.
"We were not at our best today," said De Zerbi. "We made too many mistakes and we were punished by a very good Aston Villa team."
De Zerbi also praised his players for their spirit, saying that they never gave up even when they were behind.
"I am proud of my players for the way they fought until the end," said De Zerbi. "We will learn from this defeat and we will come back stronger."
Brighton are now 10th in the Premier League table, 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
